The University
Situated just 20 minutes south of Amsterdam in the grounds of a 13th century castle, Nyenrode Business University was created by business for business.
Founded in 1946, Nyenrode Business University was the first private university in the Netherlands. Our graduate business school has a wide portfolio of business education programs, and has extensive links with the Dutch and international business communities. Its teaching philosophy is geared towards developing globally minded business leaders and managers, fostering leadership and true entrepreneurial spirit within rigorous and demanding academic programs. Nyenrode’s uniqueness resides in its three-pillar approach: personal development, individual attention and cooperative team-work.
The Program
Nyenrode's International MBA is for managers that dare to invest in their own development and future. It is a full-time 12-month MBA program designed for young managers, and students have on average six years of work experience and are approximately 30 years of age when starting the program. Selected by students for its intensity and intimate on-campus experience, the International MBA class typically numbers 30-45 students per year, of some 20-plus nationalities. Combining theory and practice, the program also features three international modules: Europe, North America (at the Kellogg School of Management), and Asia. The International MBA concludes with an open final project that can take the form of a business plan, a consulting report or an academic thesis, to help prepare you for the next stage in your career.
The International MBA program structure
Throughout the 12-mon curriculum, teaching methods vary from subject to subject with a mix of international modules, faculty and guest lectures, case work, experiential learning, business simulations, and team projects. Groupwork is essential, and students are frequently required to work in different study teams. In this way, a range of professional, cultural and educational backgrounds are brought together to address a particular problem.
Entry Requirements
Nyenrode has a tradition of entrepreneurship, and an ideal candidate is someone who is prepared to take initiative and aim for top quality. Nyenrode students think outside the box, set new limits and look for innovative solutions. Importantly, our students are accountable managers who think before they act, and then act respectfully and responsibly, both personally and with respect to their surroundings.
A minimum of three years of work experience is required for the International (full-time) MBA. On average, students have six years of work experience when starting the program. All applicants are also required to have a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.
Application Procedure
The Admissions requirements also include:
- A minimum of three years of working experience
- A bachelor's or master's degree
- A thorough command of written and spoken English (non-native speakers will be asked to provide evidence of a solid score on the TOEFL or IELTS test)
- Solid score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)
- A completed application package, including four short essays and two letters of recommendation
- A selection interview, which takes place after the complete application package has been reviewed by our Admissions Committee
Tuition and Fees
The 12-month International MBA program costs € 32,500. This program fee covers tuition but not books, accommodation, living expenses, etc.
Application fee is 80 euros.
Financial Aid
Scholarships for the International MBA program are awarded in the form of partial to full tuition waivers and are based on the strength of an applicant’s profile and application package as a whole. In order to be considered for a tuition waiver, applicants must first submit a complete application package for the 2010 International MBA program prior to the application deadlines published on the website.
Accommodation
The Nyenrode estate radiates a unique atmosphere. Nestled in a typically Dutch landscape, it combines the allure of olden times - with its Castle and long tradition of education - with a modern and leading role in education and entrepreneurship.
Residence on campus is optional but recommended. It enables you to benefit fully from belonging to the Nyenrode community, and from after-hours contact with fellow students, and saves you travel time and expenses. All International MBA students are strongly encouraged to reside on campus during their intensive MBA studies.
