What makes Salem different from other schools?
The Schule Schloss Salem is a fully accredited Gymnasium (grammar school) in the state of Baden-Württemberg. It is also an international college offering the Diploma Programme of the International Baccalaureate (IB).
Tuition in the German branch of the school is based on the curricula of the state of Baden-Württemberg. The international branch of the International Baccalaureate follows the curricula of the IBO.
As a private school, we take advantage of our freedom to develop a specificlearning culture in each school campus appropriate to the age group of the students. As far as possible, each campus (lower, middle and upper school) offers academic activities extending beyond the curriculum-based programme both in terms of format and content.
All campuses are distinguished by small classes, highly qualified teachers, a variety of teaching formats, a high degree of self-reliance and initiative, and tuition which transcends the boundaries of subject and classroom. Classes also take place on Saturdays in all campuses.
The contraction of secondary education from nine to eight years at Gymnasium-type schools (“G8”) will mean major changes for Salem. Years of planning by different teams have gone into the reorganisation of the academic programme. One examplary result is the table (PDF download, 45 KB approximately, German version only) of currently planned teaching content transcending the traditional lesson framework in grades 5 to 10.
