The Quarter Circle U Rankin Ranch is truly a well kept secret, located deep in California’s Tehachapi Mountains. It is the ideal vacation spot for singles, couples, families, and groups. It has been a working cattle ranch since the days of the Civil War, and the Rankin family still raises White Face Hereford cattle just as their ancestors did nearly 150 years ago. Guests travel from across the United States and around the world to visit this guest ranch. They enjoy the fact that it is a “real” working ranch, and are fascinated with its century old history. Many guests emphasize the importance of the “family” atmosphere; meeting and visiting with Rankin family members is routine as they all live right on the ranch...4th, 5th and 6th generations. “Western hospitality” is part of your package!
EVERYTHING is included in the American Plan Rates…lodging, all three meals, horseback riding, and all ranch activities. Lodging is provided in the cozy mountain cabins that are surrounded by beautiful scenes of nature. There are only 14 cabin rooms, accommodating 35 to 50 guests. All rooms have their own private entrance and bathroom. Everyone enjoys the home cooked meals complete with, top quality meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade breads, and desserts. Rudy, the Rankin Ranch cook, has worked at the ranch for over 30 years now.
The favorite activity at the ranch has always been the horseback riding. There are both adult and children rides (riding starts at age six) which explore the meadows, Walker’s Basin Creek, and mountain ridges overlooking the beautiful little valley of Walker’s Basin. The head wrangler will pick the perfect horse for you and guide you through beautiful trails around the ranch.
Parents and grandparents especially appreciate the supervised children’s program. The counselors are on duty from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and join the children again in the evening with planned activities for ages 4-11. They enjoy arts and crafts, hikes, and visits to the animal farm.
Other ranch activities include tennis, shuffleboard, ping pong, swimming, hiking, fishing (trout stocked pond), and planned evening activities. There is a large recreation room with a pool table and games. There are also weekly haywagon rides and barbecues on Sunday for lunch and Wednesday for dinner. Adventure West…Kidstuff says, “A full operation cattle ranch, Rankin offers a fun filled, down home kind of vacation, complete with tradition, history and diversions for both young and old.”
Plan a visit to the Rankin Ranch…you’ll leave refreshed and ready to tackle your hectic city life back home.
