It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the web site of Dalian American International School. Entering our third year of providing a quality education to the expatriate families residing in the Dalian area, DAIS provides students with an international education that stimulates in them an understanding and an enthusiasm for international citizenship. With the support of International Schools Services and their record of success in establishing international schools, I am certain you will be pleased with our high standards in education. Our students value and gain strength from the diversity of their nationalities and cultures and our entire community is committed to developing well-rounded, well-educated young people with a strong sense of personal and social responsibility.

Our mission is to cultivate future business and social leaders through the promotion of academic excellence, responsible citizenship, and international understanding whereby students become critical, compassionate thinkers and active, life-long learners. DAIS is committed to providing a positive, nurturing, student-centered, and developmentally appropriate environment that promotes active learning and discovery. Students’ horizons are expanded as we encourage them to reach their full potential in academics, the arts, physical activities and community service.

DAIS teachers are continuous learners who work in a dynamic, collaborative environment for the purpose of improving student learning. In our professional community, learning from one another, sharing best practices, and continually striving for excellence is the norm. In doing so, we create an environment that strives to challenge every student.

Successful partnerships between home and school are important for student success. At DAIS, these partnerships involve the sustained mutual collaboration, support, and participation of the school staff and families, both at home and at school. These activities and efforts directly and positively affect student learning and progress in school. We view student achievement as a shared responsibility, and all stakeholders, including parents, teachers, school administration, and community leaders play a role in supporting student learning.

I trust you will find the school web site informative and I hope that you gain a stronger understanding of our school and its programs. I extend to you a warm welcome and encourage you to contact the school should you wish to visit or enroll your child.
