Baptist Memorial Hospital–Memphis is the flagship hospital of the Baptist Memorial Health Care system. With more than 26,000 admissions, 57,000 emergency department visits and 15,000 surgeries annually, Baptist Memphis is one of Tennessee’s highest volume hospitals.

It is also one of the most highly regarded. For 16 years in a row, Mid-South consumers have rated Baptist Memphis their most preferred hospital for overall health care services in a national research poll. Baptist Memphis is preferred 2 to 1 over other area hospitals in overall quality, reputation, best doctors and best nurses. HealthGrades , an independent health care ratings organization, has ranked Baptist Memphis among the top 5 percent in the nation based on overall patient outcomes. It has also rated Baptist Memphis no. 1 Tennessee for cardiac surgery.

As Tennessee’s top-rated heart surgery program and Memphis’ top cardiac program overall, the Baptist Heart Institute is designed to deliver comprehensive services to its patients in the most convenient way possible. It combines all heart services in one facility to support high-quality care, research, education, and data management.

Hybrid Intra-Operative Surgical Suite
One of only a few such centers in the country, the hybrid intra-operative surgical suite allows both cardiologists and cardiac surgeons to perform and combine their resources in one area. Monitors throughout the room allow the entire surgical team to view patient images in real time, with clarity. Less time spent in different procedures, because all diagnostic, interventional, and surgical procedures can be done in one place.

New Hope for Patients with Inoperable Tumors

The Baptist Center for Cancer Care is the only health care system in West Tennessee to offer the CyberKnife ® radiosurgery system —a precise, fast, non-invasive treatment for tumors.

CyberKnife is the world’s first robotic radiosurgery surgery system, and can treat both cancerous and noncancerous tumors anywhere in the body. CyberKnife can be used to treat cancer of the prostate, lung, brain, spine, liver, pancreas and kidney. The treatment delivers beams of high-dose radiation to tumors with extreme accuracy. It can even track the tumor motion throughout the treatment, ensuring a minimal amount of dosage to healthy tissue and shorter treatments.

The CyberKnife is another tool in the fight against tumors, and treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy, and Cyberknife may be used in combination for a comprehensive care plan.
