Carefree Lifestyle, Access to Country
And City Make Hertlin House Home
As an independent senior living rental community, Hertlin House is a special haven for the seniors of Long Island. Ideally situated on a gorgeous 14-acre site in Lake Ronkonkoma in central Long Island, Hertlin House blends the best of quiet country living with the nearby advantages of the Big City.
Life at Hertlin House has been described as “living in a private country manor with no responsibility for its upkeep.”
This is the lifestyle first envisioned by Lillian Hertlin, a long-time resident of Lake Ronkonkoma and educator in the Sayville School District, who donated the land for Hertlin House. In the 1920s, when Lillian was a child, her father bought the land on which the family’s Lake Ronkonkoma summer home was built.
An adventurous only child and life-long nature lover, Lillian thought of the property as a paradise, a place where her imagination could run wild and she could play, pick berries and flowers and enjoy the songs of the birds.
Today, Lillian remains an active resident of Hertlin House and its chief benefactor. She recently donated funds from her foundation to purchase a new vehicle to transport residents to doctor appointments and other activities, including church on Sunday.
Lillian knows well what other residents soon learn when they make the move to Hertlin House. When you live at Hertlin House, your life quickly becomes carefree as you become happily accustomed to restaurant-style dining, full housekeeping services, ready transportation, 24-hour security and a host of new friends who are equally fond of their new-found lifestyle.
Daily life at home is enriched by the beauty of landscaped lawns, colorful gardens and walking paths, and when you’re ready to travel, you’re just minutes from the Long Island Expressway, Islip/MacArthur Airport and the Ronkonkoma train station. New York City, Las Vegas or hundreds of other destinations await.
Independent Senior Retirement Communities like Hertlin House are designed for seniors who are basically independent but who would enjoy and benefit from being free of some of life's "must do" chores, including yard work, home maintenance, housekeeping, driving, daily menu planning and more. Hertlin House is also ideal for those for whom the large family home has become more of a burden than a pleasure, and to people who may have become somewhat isolated.
The Hertlin House lifestyle is available on a rental basis without the high cost and risk that may be associated with payment of an entrance fee. For a limited time, move-in incentives are available to new residents. Hertlin House also offers a unique Try Before You Decide opportunity, which takes all the uncertainty and guesswork out of one of life’s big decisions.
Hertlin House is the only retirement community on Long Island rated in the Top 20 by New York magazine.
