Georgian Court University is a dynamic learning community where students grow in mind and body, heart and spirit.
At GCU, students are intellectually engaged and readily involved in the learning experiences that lead to their success. And when they graduate, they leave our historic, 156-acre campus in suburban New Jersey with more than a degree. They leave with a first-class education and the tools needed to become accomplished professionals, compassionate neighbors, and concerned civic leaders.
GCU, the only Mercy University in New Jersey, is where Mercy core values—respect, integrity, compassion, service and justice—resonate.
From biology to business, chemistry to criminal justice, GCU students can pursue their academic interests in 30 majors, including new programs in nursing, exercise science, dance, and tourism, hospitality, and recreation management. Students seeking advanced degrees can choose among master’s programs in biology, mathematics, education, counseling, psychology, theology, and holistic health.
Small classes—our student-to-faculty ratio is 14:1—enable leading professors who are experts in fields like neurobiology, education and accounting to work side-by-side with students. As a result, GCU faculty know their students and work hard to help them achieve.
GCU students participate in national conferences where they present papers, lead poster discussions, and work with their peers on domestic and international issues. GCU students also work alongside their professors on grant-funded projects and research studies.
In addition to offering a meaningful and memorable academic experience, the university also has more than 20 extracurricular clubs, 16 academic honor societies, and three living-learning communities for students interested in the arts, international culture, and outdoor adventures.
One of our signature programs is W.I.L.D. (Women in Leadership Development), an intensive, four-year journey that teaches women to become skilled leaders and empowered decision-makers. W.I.L.D. women—and others students on our campus—look for opportunities to lead.
GCU is also where students seek opportunities to give back. Service learning is central to the GCU experience, and students’ outreach work ranges from helping impoverished families in Appalachia to teaching computer skills to poor women in Peru. GCU students understand what it means to be global citizens and aim to make the world a better place.
In athletics, GCU is fiercely competitive in eight NCAA Division II sports: basketball, cross-country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, and volleyball. Our new Wellness Center, an eco-friendly, 67,000-square-foot facility, houses a 1,200-seat arena, an exercise science laboratory, a fitness center and two professional-quality dance studios.
The sense of fun and adventure that comes with college life also applies at Georgian Court where students enjoy the serenity of a campus that is tucked away in Lakewood, New Jersey, only minutes from the Jersey Shore. Others enjoy the culture and entertainment that comes with GCU’s easy access to New York and Philadelphia.
Georgian Court University is more than a place to earn a degree. It is a holistic, high-quality institution dedicated to transforming the lives of its students.
