Novak Druce + Quigg LLP is a national law firm focused exclusively on complex intellectual property matters. With a renowned patent reexamination practice and more than 80 attorneys and professionals in offices in Houston, San Francisco, Washington DC, and West Palm Beach, Novak Druce attorneys help our clients navigate the complexities of U.S. intellectual property law by securing, enforcing, and defending their intellectual property rights. Over 90% of our attorneys, agents and advisors hold a technical degree and our team has experience in a wide range of technologies, including biochemical, electrical and mechanical engineering; petrochemicals; agriculture; construction; consumer electronics; geology; pharmaceuticals; and wireless technologies. Novak Druce is also comprised of experienced patent, trademark and copyright law litigators.
Novak Druce is one of the first and only firms to have a dedicated team to handle reexaminations in order to provide the commitment and experience necessary to achieve the most favorable results. Since 2005, the year the US Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO) Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) was created, Novak Druce has been a leading filer of litigation- driven reexaminations. The Novak Druce reexamination team has had more claims rejected before the CRU than any other law firm by a margin greater than 5 to 1 and currently has a remarkable close to 100% record of Requests granted by the USPTO. Novak Druce has led reexaminations in the CRU with impressive results, including the reexaminations of patents asserted in the infamous infringement case of NTP v. Research in Motion Limited (RIM). Novak Druce’s involvement led to an excess of 2100 claims rejected in the asserted patents resulting in the most claims ever rejected by the CRU to this date.
We believe intellectual property is a dynamic part of our clients' overall business portfolio and offer a unique approach by practicing intellectual property law with both a prosecution and litigation perspective. In order to ensure clients’ desired expectations, we integrate the expertise of our prosecution attorneys who understand the complexities of securing intellectual property with our experienced litigators who understand the process of defending and challenging intellectual property. This synergy allows for a more concrete outcome for our clients.
