The University of Toledo- leader in distance education in Ohio - enrolls students from across the USA, Canada and abroad. At UT, academic success in a flexible, anytime, anywhere online environment is what students can expect from the Distance Learning program. For students whose busy lives prevent them from commuting to campus, online courses provide a viable solution without comprising quality. Full-time University faculty whose careers are devoted to teaching, learning, and research bring their experience and knowledge to the online classroom. Faculty-student interaction via e-mail, chat room discussions, and bulletin board postings is an integral part of the online experience at UT.

The online courses are equivalent in content to their on campus counterparts and there is no special designation on the student's transcript. UT is accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the North Central Association (NCA) NCA approval for online degrees is in process.

The timeline for certificate and degree completion is dependent on the number of credit hours the student takes per semester. Distance learning courses are not self-paced.

In addition to online degrees, over 500 courses are offered in a variety of disciplines at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Many Education courses for teacher recertification and professional development are available.

Computer and Connectivity Requirements

Students who register for online courses must have, or have access to, an Internet Service Provider and meet the minimum computer requirements below. Students with AOL should launch Internet Explorer after logging onto AOL.
Minimum computer requirements: CPU Pentium 166 MHz, 32Mg RAM (64Mg RAM or higher preferred); Monitor 800 x 600, 256 color; Hard drive 1.5GB; CD-ROM drive; Sound Card, Speakers or Headphones; MS Windows 95 Operating System or later, or MAC equivalent; Browser Internet Explorer 4.0 or later, Modem 28,800 BPS (56K BPS preferred).
Recommended computer specifications: CPU Pentium III 600 MHz; 256 Mg RAM; Monitor 800 x 600, 256 color; Hard drive 20 Gigabyte; DVD capable 32x CDROM; 8 Bit Sound Card, Speakers or Headphones; 3.5" Floppy; Iomega Zip 250 Removable Media Drive; MS Windows 2000, XP or ME Operating System or MAC equivalent; Browser Internet Explorer 5.0 or later with appropriate plug-ins; Modem minimum 56K BPS.
