THE MBA DEGREE
The MBA Degree at The University of Montana is most noted for its innovative curriculum where the entire first year can be completed on the Internet from any location. The second year exposes students in residence to an experiential, integrated curriculum of two semesters uniquely structured around 10-week classes with a fall break in the 11th week of the term. Our Career and Leadership Skills seminar starts off the year each August, and students can complete all residence degree requirements in 10 months by the end of the following June.

For the most part, elective classes are concentrated in the last five weeks of fall and the first five weeks of spring, some taught by visiting faculty from other universities, such as Temple University in Philadelphia, The University of Utah in Salt Lake City, and the University of California at Irvine. Some electives are offered within interpersonal perspective areas (e.g., leadership skills, negotiation, etc.) and technology perspective areas (e.g., high-tech marketing). Class sizes are small (20-35 students) allowing students to form lasting relationships with classmates and faculty alike.

UM FACULTY & STUDENTS
MBA students at UM are exposed to top caliber faculty from some of the nation’s leading doctoral granting institutions, among them Arizona State University, Claremont, Cornell, Florida State, Oklahoma State, Penn State, and the Universities of Arizona, Colorado, Minnesota, Washington and Wisconsin. Many of the faculty are engaged in consulting activities with firms both in and outside Montana. And graduates of our MBA program are employed today as senior executives with companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, IBM, etc.

OUR LOCATION
We’re located on the western edge of the Continental Divide halfway between two National Parks – Yellowstone and Glacier. Our University was founded in 1893 shortly after Montana gained statehood, and our School of Business Administration opened in 1918. In 1949, we distinguished ourselves as one of the first 50 schools in the nation to gain accreditation by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. And in 1996, we moved into our new $18 million building complete with three computer labs and a variety of high-tech classrooms. We now offer both a MBA and Master of Accountancy Degree.

THE DISCOVERY CONTINUES
Some of the nation’s top faculty and students continue to be drawn to Missoula as our school is noted for its unique blend of academic excellence and recreational lifestyle. Missoula, which recently was recognized as one of the nation’s outstanding small cities in which to do business, combines small-town friendliness with the amenities of big cities where residents enjoy live theater, ballet, symphony, art exhibits at local museums and galleries, and a high quality of life living in a community surrounded by spectacular natural beauty.
