The SingHealth group is widely recognised as the medical 'innovation engine' for Singapore and is actively engaged in clinical and transnational biomedical Research.

With over 420 research staff, of which about 100 are clinician scientists, SingHealth institutions are actively involved in research collaborations with renowned international institutions such as Edinburgh University, Stanford University, Cambridge University (UK), Harvard Medical School and National Cancer Centre (Tokyo). SingHealth's research efforts captured 40 per cent of all national peer-reviewed funding in Singapore.

SingHealth is also a major regional centre for postgraduate healthcare education, through the SGH Postgraduate Medical Institute, SingHealth-Alice Lee Institute of Advanced Nursing, and Postgraduate Allied Health Institute. Each offer training programmes and fellowships. Doctors from Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar and India are among the fellows and trainees who have taken up training opportunities via clinical training attachments and fellowships.
