The third edition of European Summer School in Policy Analysis will take place from 13th to 26th July 2008 in the stunning Renaissance setting of the University Residential Centre of Bertinoro, Italy.
ESSPA is organized in cooperation with the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) and ten European Universities awarded with EU grants: Bologna (Italy), Vienna (Austria), Leiden and Amsterdam (Netherlands), Birmingham (UK), Kassel (Germany), Bratislava (Slovakia), Brno (Czech Rep.), Roskilde (Denmark), Kaunas (Lithuania).
ESSPA aims to teach PhD/postgraduate young scholars, working on policy analytic subjects, a wide range of theoretical approaches, methods of analysis, exemplars of problem formulation/analytic technique, develop dissertation projects, and stimulate closer academic co-operation between researchers in policy science. Scholarships are available for participants.
General Objectives: bring awareness of advanced policy theory and analytic methods, develop exemplars and formats for teaching contemporary policy analysis in political science and public administration curricula, disseminate best practices in policy analysis that combine theoretical insights, solid empirical work, and relevant, informed advice.
Expected Outputs: contribute substantially to fill a gap in the teaching of public policy in Europe, bring together a faculty of policy instructors that covers a wide range of topics and approaches in policy research, provide students of public policy with a unique opportunity to experience a broad, in-depth exposure to policy research.
