Keeping Score: MTT on Music is a major initiative of the San Francisco Symphony aimed at offering audiences of today a connection to classical music and the powerful emotions it conveys. Anchored by a television series which recently premiered on PBS' Great Performances, the project encompasses the Internet, radio, and DVDs, as well as educational and outreach programs throughout the United States.
The 2-part pilot episode is now available on DVD and features an in-depth look at Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4. In Part 1 "The Making of a Performance," Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas (MTT) and members of the San Francisco Symphony (SFS) talk about their passionmusic, how they became involved in it, and how they use their instruments, training, and experience to bring the composer's thoughts and emotions to life. Part 2 is a full length, live concert performance of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4.
