The University of the Arts:
Where Creativity Shapes the Future

Creativity comes in many forms - and The University of the Arts brings together aspiring creative people of every kind - visual artists and designers, actors, dancers and musicians, multimedia artists, screenwriters, and filmmakers. Faculty and students alike, we welcome them all into a diverse, close community.

UArts is the nation's first and only fully accredited university devoted exclusively to education and professional training in the fields of design, visual, media, performing arts, and in emerging creative arts and communication. We challenge students as they have never been challenged before. And, most important, we prepare each of them for a successful professional life. Our location on the Avenue of the Arts in Philadelphia provides students with a vital urban experience at the crossroads of culture and business.

Life at UArts is a broadening experience, drawing students with diverse points of view and open-minded attitudes, giving individual creativity room to flourish.

UArts students represent a wide range of ethnic and racial backgrounds that bring passion and diversity to the arts. Our sizeable contingent of international students also adds to our exciting community, including students from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, Europe, and Asia.

Students can choose from 25 undergraduate and 11 graduate programs in art and design, the performing arts, and media and communication that allow them to develop knowledge and skills that prepare them to make, create, think and lead in the 21st century.

Our curriculum combines majors with real depth and a strong professional focus with a rich experience of the liberal arts - such areas as literature, history, psychology, and the sciences. This experience inspires and enriches students' creative work, and helps them grow as thoughtful people, better prepared to make their way in the world. Because UArts embraces all the arts - including the newest fields of media and communication - students also have the chance to explore creative areas outside their major, sampling courses or completing a minor.

Adult students can also taste the UArts experience at the Center for Continuing Studies, where they can advance their careers or discover their creativity through dynamic evening and weekend courses.

Educators can earn graduate credits and continue their professional education at the Professional Institute for Educators, providing innovative approaches to teacher education.

Kids from K-8 can participate in one of the oldest programs on campus, Saturday Arts Lab, in which master teachers meet every Saturday and serve as mentors for young, developing artists. High school students can also sample UArts courses through the popular Pre-College programs.

So, come join our vibrant community. Get to know us at our next Open House in October or April or take a campus tour. Call the Office of Admission at (800) 616-ARTS. Or check us out at our website www.uarts.edu.
