Find Your Career Path at Lincoln Memorial University

Since its founding in 1897, some of our nation’s most competent lawyers, doctors, nurses, artists, veterinarians, business persons and writers have had their academic roots at Lincoln Memorial University (LMU). The values-based learning community in northeast Tennessee is preparing the next generation of leaders by providing educational experiences in the liberal arts and professional studies.

Built with a mandate from Abraham Lincoln himself, LMU has a mission to provide educational opportunities, develop community leadership, and expand economic and social forces within the Appalachian region of eastern Tennessee, southern Kentucky and south west Virginia. The private, nonprofit school stays faithful to that mission by delivering outstanding liberal arts studies in over 30 academic majors, creating a highly respected graduate school that continues to expand its offerings and, developing strong adult education programming that helps working professionals increase their income potential.

Traditional students pursue baccalaureate degrees majoring in everything from the traditional - business, education, and health disciplines – to the unusual – professional golf management, veterinary technology and wildlife and fisheries management. Classes are held primarily on LMU’s 1000-acre Harrogate, Tenn. campus – a welcoming campus that blends traditional architecture and modern technology, with the awe-inspiring Cumberland Gap National Historical Park in its backyard.

Many classes are also offered at one of 10 conveniently accessible extended sites, online and through interactive televised classes. As a result, it is possible to complete a degree from many regional locations or from anywhere in the world without sacrificing personal support from the school’s caring faculty.

LMU is home to Tennessee’s newest medical school, the LMU-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. Its faculty is remarkable and the 105,000-square-foot facility is state-of-the-art with a sophisticated anatomy lab as well as clinical exam rooms that simulate real patient-physician encounters. A Physician Assistant program will open in June 2009. Further planned expansions of LMU’s graduate school include degree programs in education and law.

Caylor School of Nursing at LMU makes it possible to follow a number of career paths in this in-demand field. A student may earn an Associate of Science degree in Nursing on his or her way toward an RN degree. An RN to BSN program allows experienced RNs to achieve a baccalaureate degree in the shortest amount of time. LMU’s Master of Science in Nursing offers two concentrations, Family Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Anesthetist.

Lincoln Memorial University is supported by the generosity of the community. Donors make it possible to offer $300,000 in endowed scholarships annually. Students can also qualify for some of the $7 million in institutional grants available each year.
