Lincoln Memorial University, Harrogate, TN

Lincoln Memorial University is a values-based learning community dedicated to providing educational experiences in the liberal arts and professional studies. The University was founded in 1897 as a living memorial to the 16th President of the United States. LMU strives to give students a foundation for a more productive life by upholding the principles of Abraham Lincoln's life: a dedication to individual liberty, responsibility and improvement; a respect for citizenship; a recognition of the intrinsic value of high moral and ethical standards; and a belief in a personal God.

Located approximately 55 miles north of Knoxville in Harrogate, Tenn., LMU rises where Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia merge at the Cumberland Gap. Nestled in the pristine Appalachian Mountain Range, the beautiful and historic campus has 32 academic, administrative and residential buildings, including three new apartment-style dorms. LMU is minutes from world-class mountain climbing, water and snow skiing, fishing, hunting, biking and more.

With an average class size of 15, students can expect personalized attention. Currently offering over 30 academic majors, preprofessional and graduate programs, LMU continues to grow, adding new programs every year.

With a reputation as one of the premier liberal arts institutions in the region, LMU attracts a distinguished faculty which includes Fulbright Scholar Dr. Charles Hubbard, Civil War historian and Pulitzer Prize (in history) nominee Dr. Earl Hess and 2005 Kentucky’s Best Author Silas House.

As an NCAA Division II institution LMU fields teams in men’s baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer and tennis, and in women's basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. LMU's soccer teams won the Gulf South Championship in 2005, making it just the third school to sweep the men's and women's titles in one sport.

LMU offers more than 40 activities and clubs on campus, including sororities and fraternities, professional and religious clubs, honor societies, student government organizations, special intrest and performing arts groups.
