SAS is an independent, non-profit and nondenominational school set on two purpose-built campuses – one in Puxi, the west side of Shanghai, and the other on the east side of the city in Pudong. Modern IT and science laboratories, well-stocked libraries, extensive sporting facilities and exceptional learning resources position SAS as one of the best international schools in China. SAS offers exemplary education for expatriate families in Shanghai with an American Pre-K – grade 12 curriculum. Fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), the school’s program reflects the needs of its multinational student body, as well as the school community’s expectations for academic rigor. SAS recognizes that success cannot be rooted solely in academics, and students are actively encouraged to pursue a wide range of interests beyond what is taught in the classroom.

At the high school level Advanced Placement courses, combined with an International Baccalaureate program, offer outstanding opportunities for students to excel in the 19 courses offered. Of the 123 graduates in the 2004-05 academic year ninety eight percent moved on to colleges and universities around the world.

SAS continues to invest for the future to meet the ongoing demand for quality education. At the Pudong campus, the high school program will further develop with the introduction of grade 11 in 2006-07, followed by grade 12 in the 2007-08 academic year. Pudong campus enrollment is projected to increase from 600 to 1,600 students. State-of-the-art facility development will support this growth.

Shanghai American School offers expatriate families in Shanghai a unique service; one school – two campuses, on both sides of Asia’s most vibrant city.
