YEW CHUNG INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF HONG KONG
The International Baccalaureate Programme is a world recognized curriculum encouraging students to be active learners, well-rounded individuals and engaged world citizens. Yew Chung adopted the programme as an integral part of furthering the Yew Chung philosophy of educating students with the needs of the 21st century in mind.
Yew Chung is governed by a philosophy that is based on bringing together the cultures of the East and West using English and Chinese dual language learning as a means of entering into and absorbing Eastern and Western cultures. The school is in the forefront of a worldwide move away from using any national curriculum to an international curriculum, from parochial mindsets to world mindedness, from local perspectives to international perspectives and from languages as simply linguistic structures to languages as channels for the absorption of cultures. We define an international education by what goes on inside a student - It is about the internal transformation of a child by the international school's culture created by the co-teaching and multicultural learning environment, the Co-Principals administration, admission, the overall content and process which links to the character formation of a child.
By developing the whole person, our students grow and they are transformed. As a result of this transformation, their minds are expanded, lives are changed and most importantly, their future is wide open.
SHANGHAI AMERICAN SCHOOL
SAS is an independent, non-profit and nondenominational school set on two purpose-built campuses – one in Puxi, the west side of Shanghai, and the other on the east side of the city in Pudong. Modern IT and science laboratories, well-stocked libraries, extensive sporting facilities and exceptional learning resources position SAS as one of the best international schools in China. SAS offers exemplary education for expatriate families in Shanghai with an American Pre-K – grade 12 curriculum. Fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), the school’s program reflects the needs of its multinational student body, as well as the school community’s expectations for academic rigor. SAS recognizes that success cannot be rooted solely in academics, and students are actively encouraged to pursue a wide range of interests beyond what is taught in the classroom.
At the high school level Advanced Placement courses, combined with an International Baccalaureate program, offer outstanding opportunities for students to excel in the 19 courses offered. Of the 123 graduates in the 2004-05 academic year ninety eight percent moved on to colleges and universities around the world.
SAS continues to invest for the future to meet the ongoing demand for quality education. At the Pudong campus, the high school program will further develop with the introduction of grade 11 in 2006-07, followed by grade 12 in the 2007-08 academic year. Pudong campus enrollment is projected to increase from 600 to 1,600 students. State-of-the-art facility development will support this growth.
Shanghai American School offers expatriate families in Shanghai a unique service; one school – two campuses, on both sides of Asia’s most vibrant city.
SHANGHAI COMMUNITY INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS
Shanghai Community International Schools opened in 1996 with 24 students. Just ten years later, SCIS is educating more than 1,100 students from Preschool through Grade 12 on four China campuses. Head of School and Shanghai veteran Mike Williams remarked, "Shanghai's dynamic growth as an international business destination has given SCIS the opportunity to attract outstanding students from 42 countries."
Committed to providing students with opportunities to pursue academic and personal excellence in a nurturing, small school environment, Williams and his top-tier international faculty strive to maintain harmony between big city and small classes. To that end, SCIS students are engaged in a personalized, hands-on, American-based curriculum, which encourages high level thinking. In addition to academics, SCIS is known for its active community of families and a school spirit second to none. SCIS is the first international school in Shanghai to earn accreditation from both the U.S. and the Chinese Ministry of Education.

The challenging National curriculum is complemented with Daily Mandarin Chinese lessons and an extensive activities programme including sports, music, drama, arts and crafts, games and more.
SRIS adheres to very high academic standards and works with an all British teaching staff. Apart from academic excellence, we also value our very talented school orchestra, numerous sports teams and gifted artists. All students sit the key stage examinations required by the National Curriculum and senior students study for (I)GCSEs and GCE AS and A Levels. The school has an excellent record in all external examinations and prepares students for university entrance in the UK and elsewhere.
THE BRITISH INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, SHANGHAI
The British International School, Shanghai, Puxi Campus, utilises the advanced research work of its Principal, Mark Upton, in the use of pupil perception feedback data. Mark brings to Shanghai his experience of three previous headships, over twenty years teaching to all age groups and school improvement consultations with schools across Europe. His Cambridge Masters research and subsequent data analysis of pupils’ perceptions of school life, resulted in his former UK school being the leading centre utilising these methods.
Mark and his staff at BISS Puxi have already collected feedback data from all the new school pupils, providing a unique insight into the students‚ perceptions of teachers, facilities and quality of education. The analysis of this data provides Mark’s team with a focus for evidence-based, continual school improvement - an approach which Mark feels is vital to ensure the highest quality at BISS Puxi.
