Now through August 20, 2006, the American Museum of Natural History presents Darwin, the most in-depth exhibition ever mounted on the highly original thinker, botanist, geologist, and naturalist, Charles Darwin, whose theory of evolution forever changed the perception of the origin and nature of our own species and launched modern biological science.
USA Today called it a "landmark exhibition" and the Daily News reports that "it couldn’t come at a better time."

Visitors of all ages will experience the wonders Darwin witnessed on his historic five-year voyage to the Galápagos Islands and beyond. Included in the exhibition are live Galápagos tortoises, an iguana and horned frogs, along with actual fossil specimens collected by Darwin and the magnifying glass he used to examine them. Darwin also features an elaborate reconstruction of the naturalist’s study at Down House, where he proposed his revolutionary theory suggesting that all life evolves according to the mechanism called natural selection.
Ongoing this fall is the blockbuster exhibition Dinosaurs: Ancient Fossils, New Discoveries, which reveals how scientists are reinterpreting the mysteries of dinosaurs: what they looked like, how they behaved, and even the hotly debated theories of why-or even if-they became extinct.
