Beijing City International School, China

Beijing City International School (BCIS) is one of the leading international schools located in central Beijing. As an IBO World School (we are authorised to offer the Diploma Program, and have candidate status for the Middle Years Program and the Primary Years Program), we offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum to students from Nursery through to Grade 11 (we will open Grade 12 in August 2008).

The focus for BCIS is offering a nurturing and supportive environment through its dedicated faculty and support systems. We achieve this in a number of ways.

Enjoying a purpose-built campus in the heart of the city, we are situated on a 51,000 square metres campus, close to the diplomatic compounds and accessible to various expatriate residential developments. We boast a comprehensive range of modern facilities, such as an outdoor running track, indoor swimming pool, 300-seat theatre, indoor rock climbing wall and music studios.

The quality of our faculty is something of which we are extremely proud. Hired from around the globe, our staff is highly qualified with extensive international teaching experience. Even more importantly, they share a strong passion to provide the absolute best educational experiences for our students, and to ensure that every student is given the opportunity to be the very best they can be. The relationship between students and teachers is very warm and positive, based on trust and mutual respect.

BCIS offers its students a rare and unique opportunity to really experience China. The school has links into the local community which enhance the learning experiences of our students. Not only do we have special programs and field trips to introduce our expatriate students to the history and culture of our host country, but we also have very close links with local schools including teacher exchanges. The internationalism of the student body (we have 48 nationalities represented) also ensures our students have ample opportunity to experience diversities in cultures.

To supplement our strong academic program, BCIS offers an extensive program of activities outside of the classroom. Our Enrichment Activities program runs twice a week after school, and offers over 25 different activities including scuba diving, climbing, jewellery making, martial arts and drama.

Another good example of BCIS' commitment to exposing students to a range of experiences is the recent introduction of the BCIS Eco Education Garden. The garden is 10,000 square metres located in a local Beijing suburb, approximately 20 minutes from the school. The garden is a resource where students can experience and learn about nature.

With our strong and proven academic program, extensive co-curricular opportunities and strong relationships between students, teachers and parents, BCIS provides a strong foundation that breeds success.

BCIS offers an outstanding international education for all, in a spirit of innovation, collaboration and optimism. If you would like to learn more about BCIS please visit us at any time. Alternatively, please email us for more information at or visit our website www.bcis.cn.
