For pre-college, undergraduates, graduate students, and educators, the following are a few of the programs MSU offers during the summer.

Summer Study for Undergrads and Beyond

With one of the largest summer study programs in the country, MSU offers options for all levels of undergraduate and graduate students with a full spectrum of courses. Whether it’s on campus, off campus, online, or abroad, you can custom build a program to meet your goals. Pre-College Residential Summer Programs

MSU educates, supports, and inspires students who are on the pathway to college. With more than 40 pre-college, residential summer programs in a variety of subject areas, students can gain an academic edge in a fun environment. Participating students experience supervised residential living in up-to-date MSU residence halls on one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. Pre-college opportunities include programs for gifted and talented students under one of the oldest and most prestigious Honors Colleges in the nation, and the opportunity for high school students to conduct scientific, engineering, and mathematical research under faculty members' guidance.

Freshman Seminars Abroad

For students who will be freshmen at MSU in the fall. These academic programs are 12-17 days long and are in various international locations. They are taught by MSU faculty members, and designed to facilitate students' transition to college life at MSU while providing them an opportunity to get a taste of the study abroad experience.

National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL)

Michigan State University is rated as the second best nuclear physics program in the United States. Their Physics of Atomic Nuclei (PAN) Program is for high school students and middle and high school physical science, chemistry, and physics teachers. Participants in PAN explore topics in modern science, astrophysics, and nuclear physics at the NSCL. www.spartanyouth.msu.edu

Proud of its tradition as the first land-grant university in the United States, MSU offers 4-H programs to over 275,000 students annually through its statewide network of Extension Offices.

Programs to Support Students in the Sciences

Vetward Bound Enrichment Summer Program-- a 7-week program for undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. Open to U.S. citizens from disadvantaged backgrounds. This program is academically rigorous and designed to simulate the experience of a veterinary student.

Multicultural Apprenticeship Program (MAP) – The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources in partnership with veterinary medicine, offers MAP, a 6-week program for students in grades 9-12 who are interested in agricultural, food sciences, natural resources, and related job fields. MAP students gain hands-on experience in laboratory, field research, and computers while interacting with faculty, students, and other professionals. MAP students are recruited from across the country.
