Move to Vermont

A state with lush scenery and an independent spirit, Vermont is best known for maple syrup. Proactive and friendly residents take great measures to ensure an economically strong and safe community. Here you'll find great school systems, low crime, fresh air and a steadfast government. Vermont's residents take preservation very seriously, at the turn of the 19th century, logging was a booming industry but too quickly, the significant loss of forests forced the government to strictly limit deforestation. They also take strong measures in regards to the environment, social services and urban sprawl.

Due to the high quality of living in Vermont, cost of living is 17 percent above the national average and housing costs are 29 percent above; the median home price runs around $232,000. Personal income tax ranges in five different brackets from 3.6 to 9.5 percent. Captive insurance companies (greatly reducing insurance premiums) are prominent in Vermont, making it the third largest market in the world behind Bermuda and the Cayman Islands.

Vermont's residents are independent in spirit and nature; here you'll find quaint towns, with well-maintained homes. The largest city has just under 40 thousand residents and most homes are either in small towns or scattered throughout the countryside. This is a great place for families, small business owners, those who enjoy beautiful scenery and hard-working people. Available homes in Burlington include Single- and Multi-family Homes, Condominiums & Town Houses, Waterfront Homes, Investment Property, New Construction, Victorian & Historic Homes, Golf Communities, Horse Property, Farm Land and Lots & Acreage.

Vermont is known for many things, including maple syrup. Their main industries include tourism, agriculture (diary), electronic manufacturing, quarrying and finishing granite and marble, and novelty items and foods; although, the state government is the largest employer. The production and sale of specialty foods and goods are also very important to the economy; here you'll find brands such as Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream, Burton Snowboards, Cabot Cheese, King Arthur Flour and many more.

There are plenty of activities to keep Vermont's residents entertained, from the many annual festivals to the 52 state parks. Many of the larger cities feature local dining establishments, boutiques and antique shops. The Vermont Symphony Orchestra is supported by the state and performs across the state. If you're seeking a bit of theater, the Vermont Theatre Company presents an annual Shakespeare festival during the summer, Other signature events include the annual Green Mountain Film Festival and the Bread and Puppet Theatre, which holds a weekly show in an outdoor amphitheater. Famous for their ski mountains, Vermont has plenty of ski resorts and during the summer residents and visitors can enjoy golf, fishing, hiking, camping and a variety of other outdoor activities.

Residents experience rainy springs, warm, humid summers, cool falls and snowy winters. Snow enthusiasts will greatly enjoy Vermont's winters, with an annual snowfall between 60 to 100 inches, making it prime cross-country and downhill skiing territory. Traveling further south, the weather tends to be a bit warmer with less precipitation, usually by a change of 10 degrees. Because of Vermont's soil and climate conditions, the roadways are filled with reds, oranges and yellows during the autumn.
