Study in English - live in German(y)
Offenburg University of Applied Sciences is a renowned German institution of higher education. 2300 students are studying 15 different undergraduate and graduate programs in the field of engineering, business administration and media. Founded in 1964, the university is known for its emphasis on practical skills, cutting-edge research, small study groups and its beautiful location in the black forest.
In 1998, Offenburg University was one of the first universities in Germany to introduce Master programs in English. With 13 % of international students it has meanwhile become one of the most popular destinations for foreign students coming to Germany. Currently, about 250 students from over 40 different countries are enrolled in three international Master programs. All three have been supported by the DAAD and accredited by internationally recognized agencies:
- Communication and Media Engineering (M.Sc.)
- Energy Conversion and Management (M.Sc.)
- International Business Consulting (MBA)
In addition to these well rounded programs with a high academic standard the Graduate School provides a wide range of special services to foreign students, which enable them to feel comfortable at the university and in the region.
This starts with the e-mail contact before application and does not end with graduation. During their stay in Germany students are being accompanied by senior students, German volunteers and a program co-ordinator. The Graduate School offers German language courses, sight-seeing trips and meetings with German citizens. After graduation, students can join the alumni network to keep in touch with the university and receive information, career advice and job offers.
Close interaction with industry is ensured by leading professionals from local and international companies teaching in the programs and forming part of the Graduate School's advisory board.
Offenburg University comprises two campuses which are located in close proximity to each other, embedded in the Black Forest landscape, in the heart of Europe. The main campus is based in Offenburg, a charming city of 60,000 inhabitants. The media corporation Burda has given Offenburg a nationwide recognition as a centre of media production. The second campus can be found ten kilometres eastwards of Offenburg in Gengenbach, a historical city with 12,000 inhabitants and a picturesque main street with half-timbered houses. The department of business administration is located in a baroque monastery.
The whole region is known for its relatively mild climate for which it is called German's "Tuscany". Both cities are only a short ride away from the so-called "European capital" Strasbourg. Basel in Switzerland is about 120 kilometres further south. This location in the heart of Europe has led the inhabitants to be open to receive students from all over the world. Furthermore, Offenburg is an ideal starting point for discovering the rest of Europe.
