International Schools: Australia

The educational philosophy of Australian Schools is very similar to that of the International Baccalaureate Organization, although schools must fulfill the expectations laid down by the Australian government. In this context, children focus on gaining experience as much as on learning facts, and the system works to produce outstanding, well-balanced students. Here we highlight some of those, which can be considered 'The Best'.

The Friends' School, Hobart

Methodist Ladies' College

THE FRIENDS’ SCHOOL, HOBART
The Friends' School, in Hobart, Australia, is a pre-K to 12 co-educational day and boarding school, founded in 1887 and based on Quaker values. Friends' has a strong academic record supported by recognition of the need to provide pastoral care at all levels of the school.

Friends' has a total enrolment in excess of 1200, including a senior college catering for Years 11 and 12 on a separate campus. The Friends' School offers students the choice of the International Baccalaureate, the Tasmanian Certificate of Education and Vocational Education and Training at Years 11 and 12.

In 2004, 98.8% of our Year 12 cohort qualified for University entrance. This is consistent with the School’s performance in public examinations over many years.
